Gasoline… Face it, it had to come up.
Alrighty guys- I was going to just go straight into a gameplan for my long term goals, but I was up thinking lastnight about how little I actually know about my monthly gasoline consumption and costs.
So I’ve decided I need to take action. How can I conduct proper financial planning and budgeting if I’m not even sure of one of my expenses? And how can I possibly cut back on gasoline spending in any way if I’m not sure how much I spend to begin with?
So I’m putting together a chart that I will revert to after each fill up. I will input the gallon price and number of gallons purchased and it will calculate total cost paid, average MPG of previous tank as well as average monthly gallon price, total number of gallons purchased in month and total amount paid per month.
I think that by utilizing and retaining this information (aside from simply keeping my receipts) I will be able to better plan and manage my gasoline spending. It will also help me to plan and prepare for the ever rising prices of the gasoline.
Come September 1, 2008 I will post my chart for August. Maybe that’s what I’ll start doing, posting my financial statements for the month at the end of each month? yes… I dont see why that should be an issue… Hm, we’ll see ![]()
Regardless, I’d suggest you each follow along and keep a detailed record of your gasoline spending
Hope alls well! Maranatha!
